Resolution of the General Assembly of Judges of the Supreme Administrative Court of 8 May 2017

The General Assembly of Judges of the Supreme Administrative Court endorses the idea of holding the Congress of Polish Lawyers on 20^th May 2017.

At the same time, the General Assembly urges the representatives of the legislative and the executive powers, in particular the President of the Republic of Poland, to diligently analyse opinions and comments expressed by the bodies of the judiciary and judicial environments regarding the changes proposed in respect of the judiciary.

The changes which lead to challenging the constitutionally enshrined independence of courts, which is a basic guarantee of independent judicial ruling activity, constitute a threat to rights and freedoms specified in the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. The rights and freedoms form the foundation of the democratic rule-of-law state that was fought for by the generations of Polish nationals.
